This 2 day course is a great way to learn how to use map and compass to explore remote areas safely
Information
This two day course will cover navigation in more detail and touch on some more advanced skills. Suitable for beginners, those with previous experience or those who have previously done the one day introduction to navigation. Each learner will be taught skills to build on their previous knowledge. Day 1 will cover basic navigation skills and ensure the fundamental map and compass skills are well understood and can be applied practically. Day 2 will cover more advanced skills in more complicated terrrain, including using bearings, how to relocate when lost and micro-navigation. Learning in a small group (max 4) from a highly experienced Mountain Leader means you will be learning easily in a relaxed environment. We will also cover equipment you might want to carry, weather forecasts, use of technology, emergency procedures and staying safe in remote areas.

You will be sent a kit list in your confirmation email, it is important you bring all the items on it. For more details see the FAQ page of the website. Payment and cancellations 1. Full payment must be made to confirm your place. 2. Cancellations up to 10 days before the course start date are allowed, a small cancellation fee will be charged to cover fees. 3. Cancellations made 10 days or less before the planned start date will not be eligible for a refund except in exceptional circumstances. Terms and conditions 1. All relevant medical conditions, allergies and details of medication taken must be disclosed at time of booking. 2. It is the responsibility of participants to ensure any medication required is carried at all times during the activity. 3. It is the responsibility of participants to inform the instructor of any changes to medication conditions, allergies or medication taken between the time of booking and the day of the activity. This must be done before the activity commences. 4. All participants must be free from the influence of drugs/alcohol at the time of commencing the activity and for the duration of the activity. Anyone suspected of being under the influence of illegal drugs or alcohol at any time immediately before or during the activity will not be able to take part in the activity and will be responsible for their own safety from that point forward.
